Flash Fic #1: Promise

  • May. 29th, 2009 at 11:58 AM
anime, bleach
I'm feeling a bit blah about the newest chapters right now.... I'm still not a Hitsugaya fangirl.

Anyways despite being sick consumed by other projects I finally finished the prompt for [info]laurie_bunter ! Warning, it's my first attempt at flash fiction, so it's probably not the best short-short ever. Oh well.

Title: Promise
Genre: Flash-Fiction musings
Series: BLEACH
Characters: Chad (thoughts of Orihime and Ichigo)

He went to Soul Society because of a promise to a friend, but he went to Hueco Mundo because of a promise to himself... )

Writing Prompt: Senses

I've been working on a bigger project for a while, and I want to challenge myself and attempt flash fiction (under 500 words).

[info]laurie_bunter came up with this, and I think it sounds pretty fun. "Give me a prompt for one of the five senses (taste, hearing, smell, sight, touch), and I'll give you a story!" I'll be attempting flashfiction, which is completely out of my comfort zone, so it'll be interesting.

I'm feeling pretty bold right now (it's after midnight where I am), so I'm completely open for scenarios, so long as it's Bleach. Or maybe Evangelion.

Will I regret this later? Probably. :D

Taste:
Hearing: trains (Bleach-- anyone & NGE-- anyone) for [info]adam_epp Smell:
Sight:
Touch: cold metal (Bleach-- Chad) for [info]laurie_bunter

And I've decided to also do 28 Weeks Later. Woo, zombies!! :D

What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten? Would you eat it again?

Heh, I saw this on the LJ homepage and thought I'd give my answer.... haggis.

Yeah, sheep's stomach with barley. It actually wasn't that bad, just a bit too salty. But I did have some AWESOME potatoes along with it. :D

But I'm sure that most people I know would be able to give much more exciting answers than me. Anybody?

Meme!! Courtesy of Reneeinfragilis-->

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me!"
2. I'll respond by asking you five questions of my choosing.
3. Post the questions and their answers in your journal.
4. Include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on...

My questions!

1. What are you, or will you be doing, at college?
2. What's your favourite ice-cream flavour?
3. How tall are you?
4. What's your dream country to visit? Why?
5. Name 3 things that you are scared of, from objects, animals, the supernatural or situations that have yet turned into reality.

1) Attempting to get my story published. I’m currently in Communication Studies, with English as my minor (or concentration?). Because I like talking, and writing…. but I like writing more, lol.

2) Neopolitan. Because I love chocolate and strawberry, and that flavor lets me have both. But that’s not to suggest that I dislike other types of ice-cream, by any means! ^-^

3) 5’, 3”… I don’t know how many centimeters that is. ><

4) Japan. Yes, I’m a nerd. I just feel very connected to that place; I always have, but just never have been able to go there.

5) ~ A painful death. Not necessarily death itself, but the idea of a painful demise (such as the one from 28 Weeks Later or like poor Terri Shiavo oO) makes me squirm.
~Being alone forever.Silly, yes, but as much as I love cats, I don’t want to be the crazy old lady with 30 of them.
~Ghosts… don’t really scare me, but the idea of the soul not being where it’s supposed to be makes me really uncomfortable and sad. And it is a bit scary, I suppose. O.O

Group Work :P

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted someplace other than Facebook. It's actually going to be a decent semester, I think, just as long as I can get through this stupid groupwork assignment.

I meet the teammates, and can already smell the cattiness brewing. I send out ideas for where we should volunteer, and every suggestion gets shot down.

"I don't think I'd like that," "I wouldn't want to get involved that much." "Let's do something fun!" =)

Like a bunch of students volunteering FOR A DAY are going to get to do something fun.

You volunteer so you gain a better appreciation for your own life, you sacrifice A DAY (in our case, it's a couple of measly hours)so you can do the shit-work for a change.

Is it too much to ask that people care about something other than their own entertainment for a change?

LJ Strike on March 21st

For those of you who don't already know, there has been a strike scheduled for Friday, March 21st, 2008, during which we hope to have many members of LiveJournal provide LJ with absolutely no content for twenty-four hours. This means no posting and no commenting. If you post elsewhere and have it set up to be posted through a feed on LiveJournal, don't do it. Stay away from LiveJournal for twenty-four hours. That can't be too hard, can it? I know some of you are probably quite active on LiveJournal and will find it hard to stay away for an entire day, just as I will, but this is something that needs to be done, to show the people running LiveJournal that we're watching the changes they are making, that we're paying attention, that we're discontent, and that we want to be heard and taken in to consideration. We are not simply users who can be tossed to the side and ignored. We are the people who make up LiveJournal. Without us, without the content we create, without our words, our voices, our creativity, our participation, there would be no LiveJournal. This is a fact, and it needs to be realized and understood and then taken in to consideration when making decisions regarding the way that LiveJournal is run. The strike is only a few days away, so there isn't all too much time to prepare. While this is unfortunate, it isn't enough to keep this strike from taking place. It will take place, the second it is meant to, and it would be best to have as many people take part as possible. Please, spread the word. Spread it fast. There are only a few days to organize this. If you find that you care about LiveJournal or care about the people you interact with on LiveJournal or simply want it to remain a place where you can entertain yourself without constant censorship and money-hungry practices being thrown in without the consideration of those who use the service, act now. If you don't wish to spread the word, that is fine, but please: refrain from using LiveJournal on Friday, March 21st. Do something else for a change. It's for a good cause. (:

For background on this strike and why it is being held, please read the following posts:
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/394838.html

To find out exactly when the strike begins and ends, depending on where you are located, please see this:

What's this about?

* It's about free and ad-free LiveJournal accounts being abolished for new members, ignoring the advice from the newly-formed Advisory Board.
* It's about LJ staff trying to sneak this decision in under the radar, and when people found out, telling the users it was done 'to make the signup process less confusing'.
* It's about LJ staff failing to apologize for trying to hide the facts from view and for lying about the actual reasons for their actions.
* And finally, it's about the latest decision to hide certain user interests from the list of Most Popular Interests, some of them being fanfiction, bisexuality, sex and depression. This decision was not announced or explained in any way. Users found out for themselves.

-beating the crap out of my Literature exam
-forgetting to study for said Lit. exam, then having the teacher get sick on the day of the exam and having it postponed until today.
-seeing my friends at work
-not seeing the wierd psycho customer we all were expecting to show up and bitch at work
-having a Italian BMT from Subway *yum*
-my friend Ally getting plane tickets to come see me!!!!
-The Nnoi/Ken fight finishing in Bleach (reunion time!!! ^_^)
-Reading a decent Gin/Ruki fanfiction
-Going to the bookstore! *is in heaven with new books*

Ten people? Umm... I don't think that I have that many people who will answer..... anybody who's username starts with a vowel? Or one of the letters in vowel? Or anybody who want's to.... I don't care! ^_^

More Fics!

And over at Sadistic Crack I've posted the other GinxRukia story I'd found It's in post #120. Well, it's actually a link to her journal, but at least I know the author this time! ^_^' Thanks Kat!

And my two stories are coming along quite nicely. It's a pity that the plot bunnies never come sniffing around when there's a contest.... *sigh* oh well.

And I just wanted to write this here, just so I'd actually have an entry of some merit- (x-posted on BA)

Greetings Bleachers!

If you've come here from BA, then you know that I am a huge fan of GinRuki (don't ask why, I dunno, just am), and after many randoms days of searching the fandom and copy/pasting my favorites onto my computer, I finally found a community where I could share my findings with other fans who are just as crazy open-minded as I am. Unfortuately, since saving those really great fics, one in particular has seemingly disappeared from the internet. I've searched high and low, but to no avail. Fortunately, I still have the fic itself, but now record of the author or story title. Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and post it here, so people can see the greatness of this story, and hopefully give me a hint as to who the writer is.

And now for my biggest disclaimer ever---->

I DID NOT WRITE THIS STORY! I AM NOT MAKING ANY SUCH CLAIMS ANYWHERE!! I AM SIMPLY TRYING TO PROMOTE A SOMEWHAT OBSCURE PART OF THE FANDOM, AND IF I KNEW THE AUTHOR'S NAME I WOULD CREDIT THEM PERSONALLY!!!!

If anyone who reads this knows who wrote this story (or if the author themself stumbles across this), comment and I will edit this entry ASAP to route to the original author copy (be it here on LJ or elsewhere). Many thanks, everybody, and enjoy!

I hope somebody knows of the author... *headdesk* oO

Where have I BEEN?!

Well, the dream is over.... Red vs Blue is finally done. *Sigh* Well, it was a fun ride while it lasted (I'm still maintaining that it was essentially M*A*S*H on crack).

Small spoiler rant by me (not that many people out there really care, I suppose, but better to be safe than sorry.... I remember POTC:DMC).

So what am I going to do with my time? Focus on Bleach. Ichigo, just do what you have to do, buddy, that's all I have to say. Do. What. You. Have. To. Do. And then you and Rukia can "comfort" each other later, heh.

A few random comments before I sign off for now.

1)IchigoxRukia is finally coming back, hahahah!!! Note that Ichigo mentioned her first, then the others. Yeah! *Waves happy flag* Just another example of how important the IchiRuki relationship is to everything that is Bleach.

2)I brought Volume 20: End of Hypnosis (yes, I know it sucks, but I won a bet and Gin is awesome), and it is.... decent. Most of the dialogue seems the same, and there were only a few changes that irked me. The biggest one was when Aizen told Gin to kill Rukia.

3)GinxRangiku .... I just can't see it. Not even when he apologized. He seems more interested in (harrassing) Rukia. When they were little... maybe there might have been a friendship... but I just don't see anything between them now, at least from his end. Whatever, I guess I'm an ignorant fool.

4)Chibis = WIN! And the GinxRukia fangirl squeeled aloud when I saw that picture, because look who's frigging right next to each other! Yep, those two!! I want an icon of that. BAD. Curse my lack of photoshop!! :(
This really has me thinking that Ichimaru Gin will be the one to find our poor Rukia. And the fangirl in me will be appeased. *Gets smacked*

Done for now! Yay!

I. Love. Bleach.

There, I've said it. Now I'm gonna go outside and shout it.

It's the first manga I think I've ever read that I'm absolutely in love with. I love all of the characters, how it's drawn, the anime, the music, the dub, EVERYTHING! Kubo Tite is absolutely freakin' brilliant!! Each chapter is better than the last, and there's no telling where on earth it's going. Absolutely fabulous!

Ironically enough, Bleach has really taken me away from the fan-made faction of the fandom. I don't feel compelled to write fanfiction or anything, mainly because the story is already so wonderful (my only complaint is HisanaByakuya, but for all I know that could change at the drop of Urahara's hat, LOL). And as for drawings, I'm not even going to get started on the vast differences in sheer talent that KT has compared to me.

Cannot wait to find out more about this fight. Is it over? I hope so, but probably not. Whatever, though. Rukia's gonna kick butt either way.

Well, now that has been said, I'm gonna go study chemistry. Wee.

"Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?" - Ernest Gaines

We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on livejournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Power to the people, yo! Gender doesn't matter, because love is love, regardless of who you are...

Finally, an update! Muahahahaha... ha.

I don't really know why I'm here, I probably won't post all that much- journals are tough! Basically I'm keeping up with the people I like to hear from and what-not.

Woo.
